Jerry Budelman, Olympia, Washington, United States, Category 5, This is
an LOR display that has been done sporadically since 2006. Our family
yacht is decorated and moored directly across from an Olympia city park
with a promenade at the waterfront. Clearly space on the boat is very
limited, but power is also a major concern since it all has to run at
less than 2500 watts. The boat also participates in the Parade of
Lighted Ships and everything has to run from a sine wave inverter and be
capable of surviving a 3 hour cruise. The "mega" tree is only 9 feet
tall, but is an 8 segment RGB implementation using individual LEDs hand
mounted in 800 tiny reflectors. The light bars are new this year and are
made from 10 foot sections of ABS pipe cut in half, silvered, and
drilled with 4800 holes. White LEDs are pressed into place. The light
bats can be used to scroll text which is done in other show selections.
The 48 channel beast weighs over 100 pounds and takes three men and
small boy to lift onto the boat. The arches and "puddles" are CCR
assemblies. The arch is one strip while the three puddles is another
than has been cut into 9 pieces and spliced. This selection is part of a
45 minute show which plays twice each night for most of December. The
show features 8 tunes plus narration between selections that promotes
the Yacht Club to which we belong and explains a bit about the lighting
technology. The whole show is also on YouTube in 3 sections (search for
Dancing Lights Marine Christmas Show). The audio track plays both from a
500 watt loudspeaker system (battery powered) as well as an FM
transmitter. Since the boat is about 170 feet from the boardwalk, the
lights have to be delayed relative to the audio to sync up at the
listener. The FM transmitter audio then must be delayed a like amount to
resync that medium. Even with high definition video, the colors and
sparkle, specially the CCR and the mega tree, are impossible to capture
accurately, as LOR well knows. Also the audio track tends to be delayed
so the audio/light synchronization is a bit off relative to real life.
Hope you enjoy the selection!! |

Stephen Blue, Deltaville, VIRGINIA, United States, Category 5, This is
the 2011 edition of my light display. Started at my home when I was 12
years old in 1996, it moved into "Public View" at my family's office in
2002 and has now expanded to more than 77,000 lights. 36,000 lights make
up the animated light show, including a 23' mega tree, pairs of 5' and
10' color changing trees, a pair of arches, and 8 mini trees. The show
is controlled by 190 LOR channels (8x CTB-16D & 4x CTB16PC). Song's
sequenced include Frank Sinatra's "Let It Snow", Barenaked Ladies' "God
Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", Straight No Chaser's "We Three Kings", Sheryl
Crow's "Merry Christmas Baby", and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For
Christmas Is You".
An additional 16 channels (DIO32 attached to 2x DIO8RLY) turns the
static display on and off at night. Over 40,000 more lights make up the
static scenes, including the Dog Village & toy characters, the boat,
pond, & iceberg scene, building, and nativity. |

The 2011 season was a big one. We discovered High Country Lights was the
largest animated light show choreograph to music in North Carolina. This
video is Alvin & The Chipmunks singing their famous song "Don't Be late"
under the direction of Dave. The light show consists of 150K lights
using over 700 channels of Light-O-Rama controlled animation. The show
features five LED mega-trees, leaping arches, Santa's castle, and much
more. The Chipmunk characters are the only ones featured in a light
show. They were obtain from a good friend in Florida that decided not to
host a light show any longer. |

Bella's Lights is for a little girl named Bella. She is 21 months old,
weighs 12 pounds and is 23 inches tall. She is precious & if you have
had the pleasure of meeting her, you would see the JOY she has for life!
Here is her story!
*Bella has Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) for short type 3 aka brittle
bone disease. She gets infusions every 8 weeks at Lebonheur for a
Bisphosphanate called Pamidronate aka (Pam) for short. This helps
strengthen her bones. She has had 10 fractures since birth, 5 in her
left arm, 2 in her right, 1 in her left leg, and 2 in the right leg. She
is going to Omaha next month to visit their (OI) clinic. We were able to
cover the trip with "Bows for Bella" contributions!! She will have to go
back again for rodding surgery and several more times for post ops and
checkups. |

Jeff Folejewski, Johnson City, NY, United States, Category 5, This is
our 4th year doing an animated display. There are right around 50,000
lights this year and 272 channels available to use in animation, but we
are only using in the 250 range this year due do a slight downsize.
The song is my wife's absolute favorite so I worked on the sequence a
couple weeks ago for 3 straight days. I thought I'd be able to use
someone elses sequence but it was a total re-write (thus the 3 days).
Overall we're happy with it and it is by far the favorite of viewers
this year.

Robert Burton, Fayetteville, Ga, United States, Category 5, I am in my
3rd year of doing a animated light display. I have around 30,000 lights
and 176 channels. This has been a very exciting year this year since my
traffic at the display has picked up tremendously over last year. Both
from word of mouth and by local newspaper coverage. This was also my
first year at doing a Halloween display. I believed this also helped in
some of the traffic at Christmas time. My wife and daughters always razz
me about my "Christmas Light Obsession". However, it has
quietened down
since so many of their friends have come by to see the display and
comment on it. When my daughter's friends start taking pictures of our
house, and then sending them to my daughter...she thought that was cool.
Maybe Daddy will finally not be so "uncool" in August when working on
next year's show. Thanks Light O Rama for putting out such a great
product and for all you do with the animated Christmas Light community. |

Jeffrey Phillips, Madison, Ohio, United States, Category 5, I wanted to
do a sequence that was off the beat & path of what everyone else is
doing. To my knowledge, no one else has ever sequenced this
instrumental. It's not a Christmas song per-say, but as a intro, it
lends itself very well, as an opening sequence.
This sequence was created entirely by myself, using 15 LOR controllers
(233 channels) and the LOR software. |

Deb Toews, Clovis, CA, United States, Category 5, I thought this was a
really fun song to sequence. We raise canned food and donate to a local
food pantry to help others during Christmas time. We have 272
channels
of LOR and run approx 30,000 LED lights. I use the 2 software to
program. Found it had all the features I like after using Animated
Lighting and Aurora software. We live in cental California and have
been having light shows for the last 3 years. We are fortunate to have
good neighbors that love what we do adn no complaints. We have plans to
add even more lights and controllers this coming year. Our goal is not
to be stagnant in our show but to grow and improve every year! |

Steve Warner, Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States, Category 5,
Santa considers an upgrade to his ride....... in "Greased Lightnin' ",
from the musical "Grease". The challenge to this piece was to make it
more family friendly. To accommodate this, we introduced "Elfy"....with a
more seasonal dialogue. Because of our limited space, we try to tell
stories rather than fill every square inch with lights. Most of the
channel allocations go to the animation of our characters. All the props
and characters are made by our family.....mostly for financial
consideration...not because of our creativity. This selection is one of
three numbers performed by the display. We usually hold two songs over
from the previous year, and introduce a new one. This new selection for
2011 is "Greased Lightnin' ".
This year, we asked for donations from those driving by the display for
the "Springs Rescue Mission". Despite the show not running for five
nights due to weather. Our viewers were very generous with over $1600.00
in donations. |

H. Garrett, Chino Hills, CA, United States, Category 5, This year I am

lighting is LEDs. |

Sally Simpson, Perkasie, PA, United States, Category 5, This year we
added 4 singing christmas trees to our display. Using the mouth
positions made popular by the singing pumpkins, I was able to form the
words that were being sung. Their feature song is "Joy To The World" by
GoFish and has become a crowd favorite.
Additionally, the trees don't just all do the same thing; they sing the
parts. As an added bonus, the eyes can either be open or closed. It's
fun to hear the surprise in viewer's voices when they realize the trees
are blinking. |

Philip Mlynarski, DeRidder, la, United States, Category 5, DeRidder
Christmas Light show. This is our second year and we incorporated the
superstar lights and the 16 CCRs. Due to technical difficulties only 9
branches of my CCR tree were working during the month. Otherwise the
shows were great, we raised approx $2,000 for various charities. We had
over 200 cars a night during the second and third week of the month.
I am a Soldier at Ft Polk, and a small business owner (quite busy) but I
feel that the Light Show is a great way to get the spirit of Christmas
out to everyone. My family enjoys the company and we encourage kids to
sit on the lawn as close as they can to the lights. I cut down several
trees this year to allow cars to park directly in front of my house.
Without the hindrance of neighbors I can play my show continuously from
5:30 till 10:30 every night. We set up outdoor speakers as well as the
radio station to complete the program. I have many guests who do not
have radios and the speakers help them enjoy the show. |

Wayne Krider, Churubusco, Indiana, United States, Category 5, I had Judy
Pancoast do a remake of the song House On Christmas Street and tailored
it to my display. I have had many many comments about this song and the
display when they here our last name and the street name and other
things in the song. In my display I have used strobe lights to kind of
highlight the different things in the song as she is singing it. In the
video I done a lot of editing to include all aspects of the display. |

year planning, sequencing, and installing, but had a lot of fun and

white lights, which has now become almost 85,000 lights (45,000 white,
20,000 red, and 20,000 green), all of which are incandescent. I hope to
add many more songs, lights, and channels for next year. My contest

TJ Nedervelt, Eclectic, AL, United States, Category 5, 2011 is year
number 6 for me, I have more emphasis on the animation rather than the
volume of lights in my show, hence the reason I have so many controllers
and channels for so few lights in comparison to other decorators. For
example, my small candy canes in the front have only 30 LEDs in each,
but there are 60 of them, so yes, 4 LOR controllers just for them.
Thank you for considering my entries, and for creating a great product

Controllers or 64 channels. (6) CCRs or 72 channels. (3) DC boards or
48 channels. (2) relay boards or 16 channels. I'm a one man show...
this was my 3rd Christmas and i'm hooked. First show with the CCRs and
Superstar - hated it at first but i got the hang of it eventually and
now i LOVE it. Also my first mega tree.... it was just 15' with 16,000
lights. Next year will be bigger. I'm pretty hooked on the LED
strip... can't beat the versatility of the RGB strip from a color
perspective. I generally try to keep my shows with very clean lines...
don't like a lot of round edges, inflatables, etc. You can't see it in
this video, but I actually convinced my neighbors on either side of me
to let me do their houses too. In the other contest i submitted a video
where i show all 3. It was wild.
This is my 3rd year doing Mariah's All I Want For Christmas. It was the
first show i did 3 years ago with 16 meager channels :) It's a
neighborhood favorite.... kind of my signature song. Can't imagine
submitting anything else. I don't use copied or shared sequences... I
sequence all my shows myself (though i do share my sequences if others
want them). I enjoy the sequencing more than anything else. I've
actually completely resequenced Mariah 3 years in a row ...lol
I average between 100 - 300 on weekend nights. My last show this year
we had well over 500 people show up. I really enjoy doing it. This
year I raised over $1000 to give a Christmas to some kids at a local
shelter for abused women and I collected 50+ blankets for a local
homeless shelter.
Ok - I'm long winded too. HOpe this is what you wanted. Thanks for

Michael Moss, League City, Texas, United States, Category 5, This is my
second year using Light-o-Rama. I went from 64 channels to 160 channels
with a little over 50,000 lights. I started November 5th putting up
light since I do this by myself, but I was ready to go the day after
Thanksgiving. Since I always let my hobbies get out of control I
sequence a little at a time all year long. As ideas come to me, I add
them to the display. I added several new items to this year’s display
including: mini trees, light-bar above the garage, grid on the lawn,
mega tree w/ strobes, and most of the bushes and trees are wrapped in
two separate colors. I also added several thousand lights to the
display as a whole thanks to a good after Christmas shopping spree last
year. Light-o-Rama has made Christmas not only a December holiday, but
a all-year-round holiday for me. Go to www.Mosslights.com for all my

Bob Weiss, Elk Grove, California, United States, Category 5, I'm
entering a display using "Wizards in Winter" by Transiberian Orchestra.
I know this is a very common song, but this is about the people watching
it, and they absolutely love this song. Unlike many of the
"Wizards in Winter" displays I have seen, I tried to minimize how many
things were happening at one time. It is very easy to include too many
flashing lights that jump back and forth with this song. As such, I
tried to focus the viewers eyes on only one or two portions of the
display at a time. I am especially proud of my timing |

Ben Aromin, Fairfield, California, United States, Category 5, Magical
Holiday Moments started out as just a simple static Christmas lights
display until the 'Animation Bug' bit us iin 2007
Our Display is a Christmas lights tribute to Disneyland in Fairfield,
Calif. making it a premier destination in Northern California to view a
Christmas lights display. Our light show is computer controlled
animation synchronized to music broadcasted on 88.3fm stereo radio
station, so you can listen to the music and enjoy the show in the
comfort of your car. This year our show will feature freshly
introduced elements to the display making for a more exciting experience
with visually stunning lighting effects to dazzle your senses.
The music we use for the show are from familiar attractions and events
from Disneyland during the holiday season. Software program and high
voltage hardware controllers that we use are designed and made by
Light-o-Rama.
Each year our display / show grows larger in animation control channels
starting from 16 then doubling to 32 for following year, then to 64,
then to 128 and currently at 144 for 2011. Our show is designed and
built by myself and my wife as well as setup and teardown crew, just a
two person team. |

Carlo Schmitt, Reno, Nevada, United States, Category 5, The 2011 biggest
little light show in Reno Nevada. 6th year doing Christmas lights
synchronized to music. 416 channels of fun. Visit us at
lightsoftanea.com
100 percent use of Light-O-Rama products only in our display.
Custom made Christmas decorations include, fireworks, Can- Can Elves,
Dancing and singing Santa,
Piano Keys, Floating roof nets, Leaping Arches and Star Rays (33 feet
high) and all the house light's.
What has started out as fun and dream come true has now turned out to be
a needed event for our community. It's a feel good for everyone who
attends, the joy they receive in these ruff times and the joy of
giving to our charities. It's amazing how prepared our guest are with
non-perishable food items or reusable clothing or monetary donations for
Multiple Sclerosis, it's truly a feel good on all accounts. Lights of
Tanea has become a holiday tradition for thousands. I have grown the
show evey year and 2012 will be no exception. I have done all the
sequencing, and put up and take down everything by myself. This year I
had to take three weeks off work to for the needed time to do this. I
get wonderful support from the community, Reno forklift gives a sky jack
from start to finish for the last four years. Local electrician has
donated his time towards a sub panel and outlets, and the list goes on.
I hope that I can live up to my expectations of doing a better show in
every aspect. I look forward in new challenges of trying new decorations,
I'm hoping to expand with cosmic ribbon and other idea's using RGB
lighting devices. |

Will Richards, La Crescenta, California, United States, Category 5, This
is my 5th year using Light-O-Rama. The videos were taken from a boom
truck parked in the street. The most important part of this year’s
display was raising $600 for Wounded Warriors. Our display consists of
316 Light-O-Rama channels choreographing 40,000 lights and 11
fountains. We have two mega trees; an 18 ft. tree with 66 channels of
clear, red and green lights and a 12 ft. tree with 26 channels of multi
and clear lights, wrapped with an additional 13 channels of blue lights
in a spiral pattern. Highlighting the house are 6 RGB wall washers. We
designed and custom made 8 RGB Extreme Mini Trees from PETG and 4 RGB
Arches out of Plexiglas. Also custom made out of Plexiglas is a 4’ x 8’
American flag with 12 channels causing the flag to wave. A viewer
favorite is our “mini Bellagio” fountains, ten self made water fountains
plus one Super Shooter that blasts a column of water 80 feet into the
air. A touch screen monitor at the sidewalk allows guests to choose a
song to be played. Rounding out the display is a three car self made
train running on 60’ train track which includes two bridges crossing a
40 ft. long stream. |

I have about 60,000 Christmas lights, 100% LED technology, not one
incandescent light bulb on our display! 2009 I won PlanetChristmas.com

• Lights are synchronized to music with 144 channels of Light-O-Rama
computerized lighting.
• Songs are transmitted up to 200 feet to your car radio on unused 100.9
FM, so you drive by and hear it on your car radio, while our lights
dance to the songs.
• 13 foot LED mega tree in front yard with over 13,000 LEDs and strobes,
dances to music!
• Laser shines hundreds of dots on house simulating snow.

Ken Maxwell, Murfreesboro, TN, United States, Category 5, The Nutcracker
is our latest addition to our Christmas light show. We presently have
13 songs. This is the sixth year we’ve put on our Christmas light
display. “Christmas in the Boro”(as folks know us), has become a
tradition for thousands of families here in Murfreesboro and middle
Tennessee. We averaged around 250 cars a nigh this year. Close to
9,000 families (cars) came by. We’re proud the show is so popular and
we’re able to give something back to the community. The down side is,
due to the volume of traffic we get we must stand in the road and direct
traffic every night during the entire show, the entire season. :~) [So
careful what you wish for regarding people coming to see your lights.]
:-))) It’s a big commitment but seeing all the families getting
together to come see the Christmas lights, all the children’s smiles,
hearing all the Ooohs and Aaahs makes it all worth it.
We presently have 156 multiplexed LOR channels controlling 350+
individual lighting circuits. Approximately 80,000 red, white, and blue
lights. The 21’ mega tree is made from 20,000 lights, 240 individual
light strands. There are 48 Munchkin (mini) trees, 32 candy canes, 9
Leaping light arches, 14 giant snow flakes and a blow up Santa on the
roof, 32 strands of ground lights, numerous deer and yard ornaments and
such throughout the display along with 175 stage strobe lights. Powered
by a 125 amp dedicated panel, and all connected with over 600 extension
cords!! The music is broadcast over our FM radio transmitter. |

choreography that I created. This is the center view (CCR Double

other views available of the full show with all 4 songs. All of the

Christmas is an animated light show at a private residence in McLean,
VA. Each year a different theme is chosen in which an assortment of
Christmas characters entertain visitors. The theme for 2011 is a Star
Wars Christmas adventure. Our display features over 500 channels of
traditional LOR control primarily using LOR 1602W controllers and about
5000 channels of RGB pixels controlled using DMX. Other features of the
show include 10' animated characters on the roof of the house, a flying
Santa sleigh (or two), and our first excursion into motion using linear
actuators. |

Val Bennett, Tremonton, Utah, United States, Category 5, This is our
second year of doing the musical lights. We have 174 LOR Channels,
including 6 CCR's. Two of the CCR's are cut up to make the "stars" on
top of the poles on the right hand side, also four arches from two CCR's.
The other CCR's are mounted on a retaining wall about in the middle of
the display. The small trees and the 6' tall 4-channel star on the roof
are home-made. We found out that floodlights only look good shining on
something white, so instead of shining them on trees, we used them
inside the garage - such that the light can be seen out the garage door
glass. |

David Stewart, Vienna, VA, United States, Category 5,
I apologize if this is a duplicate but I did not get a confirmation
notice that the submission was received, like I did for the Share the
Show contest
This the fourth year that we have animated the lights at Rocky Run
Christmas, a private residence in Northern Virginia. The show is driven
with Light-O-Rama hardware and software. Each year we choose a theme to
help frame the show as well as to create a more interactive experience
for visitors. Our theme for this year is a Star Wars Christmas
adventure during which the visitors help locate Santa during the show.
The show has been a tremendous opportunity to see the smiles that the
lights put on peoples faces. We have also been able to raise money for
several local charities through the generous donations of show visitors.
Facts about the show:
~500+ channels of traditional LOR control
~5000+ channels of RGB pixels controlled by DMX using 12 Enttec Pro
adapters
- all lights are LED with exception of the rope lights around the
windows on the house
- we estimate that it's 150,000 plus lights.. but we actually have no
idea of the exact count. we know it's at least that.
- there are 12 DMX universes controlling the RGB pixels that are used in
the fireworks, spiral trees, and light sabers
- the RGB lights are ws2801 based pixels from Stellascapes
- the 12 DMX universes are run using Enttec Pro's
- there are 3 traditional LOR networks driving the LED lights
- two zipline santa sleighs that fly during the show (had one for the
last 3 years.. added the second one this year)
- the lights on the flying sleighs are powered by a battery pack with
solar panel. If you look close in the Medley when Santa's sleigh takes
off.. you'll see the battery pack/solar panel following behind him.
- the characters on the roof are about 10' tall and are made with rope
light over a mesh frame. |
