James Bisti, Gibsonia, PA, United States, Category 4, We are a family of four living in the Pittsburgh area and this is our second year with Light-O-Rama animation. We've doubled our channel count from 48 last year to 96 this year and we're very excited about our new additions (specifically our arches and the video projection screen). My son Chase is 2.5 years old and absolutely loves "The Polar Express". This year I decided to take his favorite scene from the movie, the "Hot Chocolate" scene, and add it to our show. Instead of just using the audio, I'm also using a video from the scene itself. The video is rear projected onto a screen in the double window located at the upper center of our house. The audio, video, and lights are all synchronized and audio is broadcast to passing cars using a low frequency radio transmitter. Show details: 15,000 lights, 6 flood lights, 28 strobe lights, 30 blow molds, 16 mini-trees, 4 arches, and 1 video projector all synchronized to the "Hot Chocolate" scene from "The Polar Express" using 96 channels of Light-O-Rama animation. |

John Pedersen, Burbank, CA, United States, Category 4, Hi Dan & all at Light O Rama: For those of you who have helped me at the help desk, this is "Old fart in California" writing. Wow, what a year. I started programming in January and simply went on faith that I would have the money to fund the show. God provided and I did my part. I was also blessed with a wife who supported my hobby (whew). She says "at least I know where you are and you're not in a bar somewhere". lol. I was so worried that the 16 channel controllers would not make it in time I bought 6, 8 channel jobbies. Worked out fine anyway as I could group them closer to the lights and had to buy less extension cords. I documented the whole project on my website but my basic idea was to take a geometric shape and light up each part of it as an individual channel. This gave me tremendous flexibility in what kind of shapes I could make and allow me to lead the viewers eye. I also used the whole house FM transmitter and just love it. Had to add more antenna to get the signal out there but it works great. I run a music store and make my living as an instrument repairman. One of my repair customers is Roy Wiegand. A trombone player from the big band era and this entry is off his album "Stan the Big Sur". I just love this rocking piece and thought it would be cool for a light show. Roy gave me the original chart from the recording session and at different parts in the tune I assigned specific channels to specific instruments. BTW if there are any legal issues, I do have Roy's permission to use this piece and although it is a "gentleman's agreement" he said he would give it to me in writing if I needed it. I programmed a total of 10 songs (at 80 channels, about 10 hours of programming for each minute of music) and will have all of them posted on my light show website by mid December. In closing, I definitely have (as one of your sales people called it) Light-o-Rama itis and am one of your biggest fans. Love your company, people and products and I spread the word to all I know. Blessing to all your famlies, Merry Christmas! |

Andy Ackmann, Greenfield, WI, United States, Category 4, This is the first year back doing the show after living out of state for two years. So it was so nice to be able to get back out there and bring back the show. I got the idea to use this song when, a year or two ago, I saw a contest entry from someone who used this song. I just loved it instantly and had to incorporate it into our show. We have 128 channels. We don't use many LED lights, only the spotlights and the blue star on the garage. I really enjoy making custom things for the show, like our light arches, the green mini trees, the mega tree, and the candles. Especially with the candles, we were trying to come up with something that hasn't been widely used already...which can be a little difficult these days... |

Mike Ziemkowski, Sherman Oaks, CA, United States, Category 4, The emcee of my display, DJ Jingles, hosts a 10 minute show, while Frosty sings along and the dancing elves perform. The show features animatronics characters, and an original edited video track synchronized to music and approx. 50,000 LED lights. All of the animatronics characters, the Santa, sleigh and reindeer and the tree and wreath were hand built by me over the Summer months. Most of the critical animatronics movements are controlled by a Servo Dog along with a Wizard controller triggered by a light channel. The dancing elves are controlled by four light channels triggering 12v car door actuators. I also used a iDMX controller to control the intelligent spot light, which generates the sweeping spot on the house and gobo patterns, and it also controls a snow machine. I used seven - sixteen channel controllers to control the lights and some animatronics actions and triggers. I've been doing a display for about thirty two years and a computer controlled display for eight, but this is my first year using Light-O-Rama. Programming went very smoothly and the show ran flawlessly for the entire displays run. Disclaimer: 5 of my 7 controllers are modified controllers made to work with LOR software. |

Over 30,000 lights, 112 Channels by Light o Rama, 1 1/2 miles of extension cords. I have all ways wanted to be able to show some type of video with my Christmas lights, and did not know how until I found your software. It was mostly pretty easy, and the results were so cool. I must have had hundreds and hundreds of people come to see my show. It felt good to help spread the Christmas cheer this year. People really seamed to need the Christmas light fix to get into the Christmas sprit. I would look outside several times through the evening to make sure every thing was working properly with the show, and would see kids outside of there cars dancing in the street to the lights. It made me feel that all the work was worth it to bring joy to so many. P.S. the software and controlers worked perfectly every day. |

Dan Coe, Omaha, NE, United States, Category 4, Hello everyone, I've been doing a Christmas light show for 3 years, and each year it gets bigger and better thanks to Light-O-Rama and its partners. I use 128 channels plus 5 servo dog channels controlling over 12,000 lights, a combination of both led and incandescent. There are 55 strobe lights, 7 RGB Flood lights and 10 RGB Spot lights. I also have made some custom decorations that have not been seen before. In addition to 3 Arches, 8 Mini Trees, a 12 channel Candy Cane Pinwheel, and an 8ft. north pole, there are the original Dan-Bursts that use retrofit dripping lights to create a star burst effect. I also have the first ever Dan-O-Might Motion Lights that use RGB spot lights on servo motors and a Servo Dog to make them "Dance" to the music. You can see them above the garage door. Here is a link to the rest of my videos: http://vimeo.com/user2737384/videos Thank you for consideration in choosing my display as the winner in your contest. CHance Reecher, Waynesboro, PA, United States, Category 4, This was my third year doing a computerized show. I started my Sophomore year in High School and am now a Senior. I fund my display almost entirely on my own, with money earned both from a part-time job as an audio operator at the local news station, and from repairing computers for friends and family. I ran a total of 128 channels this year, with 7 CTB16PCs (5 of which I soldered myself) and 2 D-Light DCx08s. I had somewhere around 37,000 lights, up from around 25,000 last year. I added a few new items to my display, including a pair of light sticks, a pair of arches, and a 16-channel 15' tall Spiral Tree, which took an entire Saturday to build and attach lights to. As is the case with a lot of "lighting enthusiasts," I spent all my free time in November working on either sequencing or setting up. This was the first year I came to terms with the fact that I couldn't do it all myself and accepted help from some friends, and it still took all month. It was worth it though, as always. The joy that my lights bring to my community make it worth every minute and every dollar I spent on them. My video is in HD, so if you can, watch in 1080p for the full effect! |

I use (1) ShowTime Pro LOR1602W, (3) ShowTime CTB16PC, (1) Cosmic Color Ribbon, and (1) iDMX1000 to control (2) Chauvet LEDSPLASH 86B PARs. I programmed 4 shows this year using 58 channels of dimmers, 6 DMX channels for the PARs, and channels on the CCR. Totalling 76 channels. I have an estimated 8900 lights in my display that are pulling roughly 48 amps total. I try to add more and more lights each year and I use very little LED because the incandescent lights fade and take LOR effects much better. I hope to surpass having 10,000 lights for Christmas 2012. All cables are run from under my house through the raised foundation with many of the controllers also living under there during the season, all connected to my PC in my office at the middle of the house. I also have two AudioSource 6.5" speakers I install under my roof for the local audio and a sign telling visitors to tune their car radios to an FM station I am transmitting on with the C.Crane FM transmitter. When I first heard the song "Fireflies", I had visualized what it all would look like on my house synced to lights, but I was hesitant at first since it wasn't a Christmas song. But since certain instruments and melodies in the song sounded Christmasy to me and I could not get the song out of my head, I decided to program lights to it and it took 2 weeks worth of evenings for me to program it in my patio room. I heavily used parts of the Cosmic Color Ribbon and gold mini-lights to represent fireflies, trying to give them a movement and personality when they are mentioned during the song. It was a lot of fun! |

Daniel Varela, Nichols, South Carolina, United States, Category 4, My Display is in Nichols SC. This is my first year using Light-O-Rama. I have 128 channels and 35,000 lights. We broadcast on 88.3. Our display consists of 8 songs, 4 arches, 18' mega tree, 5' nativity star, 9 dancing trees, and 12 snow flakes. Although we live in a rural area, we had a great turn-out, many repeat visitors, and were recommended by a local visitors center as a site to visit. We have been asked to keep this as an annual event. |

Michael Pratte, Bonne Terre, Missouri, United States, Category 4, My display is comprised of 80 channels of LOR control. Last year, I had 16 channels and used it only for my mega-tree, and the rest of the display was static. This was my first year taking the big plunge into animation and having my entire display be animated. The video which I am entering is for Deck the Halls performed by the Cast of Glee. |

Brent Stoddard, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, United States, Category 4, This year our display grew to over 110,000 lights (90% of which are LED) and nearly 400 channels. The highlight of our show for this year is the addition of lights covering the garage. This panel duplicates the patterns on the grass to enhance the show's overall look and creativity. This panel is 64 channels, using red (horizontal stripes), blue (vertical stripes) and green (both diagonals) totaling over 8000 lights. The garage cover was a HUGE hit with our viewers this year - some of whom had never noticed the patterns the grass was creating. Our mega tree is 25 feet tall with a 3D 2-foot star imbedded in a 3D 4-foot star. These 2 stars represent 27 channels with white and red constant, white multi-function (for a shimmer effect) and 16 strobes. There are 32 spokes total on the tree - 16 red/green and 16 white/green. The lights on our star alone represent more lights than most people have on their house (3256 lights total). There are also 2 6-foot trees in red, white and blue, 7 3-foot mini-trees in red, white and blue, and 12 mini-spiral trees in white surrounding the grass layout. The house is triple-covered with white, blue and green. The roof is double-covered with red and white, and the hedge (on the right of the screen) is also double-covered with blue and white. Another highlight of our show are our "dripping" icicles. These are 3-channel cascading icicle lights we have had for 12 years and will be changing out to LED next year (thanks to Sam's Club for carrying the new style this year). To add a bit of pizazz, we cover the house with over 200 strobe lights. This is always a crowd-pleaser and an electrifying way to end an exciting show. Sit back, relax, and enjoy our tribute to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Wizards in Winter. We're sure you will find it as exciting as our 1000's of fans. (Even though you've seen / heard it a million times, we feel this is the best showing of our lights and the countless hours of programming we've put into this song.) |

Mark Birsching, San Jose, CA, United States, Category 4, My display used 96 channels and 16,400 lights in front of a condo. It has several trees with white lights, one tree with 12 channels of red and 12 channels of green, 3 blue LED arches, 24 mini-trees, and several trees and bushes with red, green and blue lights. The music is transmitted over an FM transmitter. I've been using LOR for three years and each year gets bigger and better! Even though I'm located in the back of the complex, people still find the display and enjoy it. |
