music. This year we are using 4 Light-O-Rama CTB16PC controllers with
over 14,000 lights. Our biggest addition this year is our 15 channel,
6,000 bulb, Red, Green, and White mega tree. We have also added 4 arches
using 12 channels and 2,400 bulbs. This song is a bluegrass version of
Jingle Bells by Rhonda Vincent. We hope you enjoy! |

Brett McDonald, Racine, WI, United States, Category 3, This is my 5th
year doing Christmas lights to music. This year I added more LED lights
and made the drummer boys giving me a total of 48 channels this year. I
pride myself on making all of the displays used in my show. The
Christmas trees, bells, wreath, Santa face, and the drummers were made
my me. I have been on the front page of our local paper twice in the
last 4 years and have also made it on the list of a local TV channels of
places to see Christmas lights all 5 years I have done the lights. Many
people have sent me cards, left plants and even gave me an apple pie to
say "Thanks" for my display. |

Sharon Brown, New Port RIchey, Fl, United States, Category 3, This is a
48 channel show done for our Christmas program at church. This was a
challenge because the songs had to be played on demand because it was
part of a live service. So all the songs we used had to be played from
the sequence editor because there is no way to control the line up once
you put in the timed program. It worked well this way. Thank You Light
O Rama. This is a 30 living Christmas tree that holds 50-60 people. |

contains approximately 35,000 incandescent MULTI-Colored lights (pulling

(of 750 lights each) to make six piano keys on my yard. The display
runs from 6-11pm starting Nov 25th-Dec 31st. This is my first year
using LOR software and hardware and I absolutely loved it. Lots of
compliments and conversations with people who wonder how I did it. I am
looking to expand with 2 more arches and a Mega Tree next year if I can
afford it.
Thanks for making great products!

pieces. This is my first year with LOR and i didn't have much time to
work with it because i finally received my order during the first week of
December but next year it will be bigger and better and i will be adding
my new FM transmitter which i got for Christmas. the link submitted

Jude Wolf, Cottage Grove, WI, United States, Category 3, For the 4th
year, the Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department presents Santa’s Fire
Truck, our E-One 95 foot aerial platform, ready to respond just in case
Santa eats too many cookies and finds himself stuck in a chimney.
Ladder 1 displays over 15,000 lights, which include 4,800 lights on the
16 tri-color Christmas trees, 16 LED snowflakes, and a singing mouth.
Since Ladder 1 remains decorated for approximately a month, the “Chief
Elf” requires that the truck is fully operational-which it is-after the
snow machine, gifts behind the turntable, and speakers are removed, and
the three 16 channel Light-O-Rama controllers are disconnected after
each parade. Being a 100% volunteer fire department, members spend
countless hours on programming and decorations. Ladder 1 gets dressed
up to attend four area parades, and is always the crowd favorite. If
Santa had a fire truck, this would be it!

20,000 lights, both LED and incandescent, as well as 20 strobes. My
wife and I made most elements of our show ourselves. We have three
leaping arches, 6 mini trees, 6 spiral trees, 1 mega tree, and a couple
wire frame stars. This year, I handed out candy canes to our visitors

Joe Petrowski, Guilford, CT, United States, Category 3, Since I am a
college senior in Boston, designing and setting up this display was
tricky due to the distance from parents home and other student
obligations, but I was able to pull it off. This was Joe's Amazing
Lights sixth year using LOR and the best one yet. This display consisted
of about 55,000 lights controlled by 64 channels that were complete with
moving spot lights and strobe lights. The display ran for a little more
than a month and raised $13,026 for St. Jude's Children's Research
Hospital. In total, Joe's Amazing Lights have raised more than $50,000
for local and national charities. I hope you enjoy the display as much
as I enjoyed creating it. |

this is my 2nd year using Light O Rama. I'm trying to add a little to my
display every year. I'm 24 years old, just got married, had a baby, and
bought our first home. We are a single income family and pretty much
what little extra money we have after bills goes to our computerized
holiday display because i hope to someday do it for a living.. possibly
working for Disney..
our display has 32 channels + 2 CCRs,
our future plans are to start implementing DMX control.

Brian Rieger, Girard, PA, United States, Category 3, This is our 48
channel animated sequence for the song "Rocketeer" by Far East
Movement. We use this sequence as part of our New Years show.
For 2011 we used channels for 6 mini trees (800 lights each - 4800
lights), 9 channel light fan (3700 lights), 2 leaping arches with
"bursting star" poles (1500 lights each - 3000 lights total), a 12
channel mega tree with star (1300 lights), 2 channel roof star (200
lights), 1 light pole (1200 lights) 2 channels for real trees (5600
lights), 1 channel 6' wooden cross (300 lights), 1 channel for 30 strobe
lights, and 2 channels for roof/icicle lights (1500 lights). We also had
several static light displays including a Ferris wheel, a sleigh and 4
reindeer (1500 lights).
We have used our light display to help promote our charity efforts for
our local City Mission. This year we raised over $2000 and collected
several hundred pounds of personal care items and food, mostly from our
1 night charity event (featuring commercial grade fireworks) called
"Christmas in the Sky".
We are expanding our show to 64 channels for 2012.

Luke Kamp, Saint John, IN, United States, Category 3, KampLights is a
Computerized Light Display in Saint John, IN. 2011 marks the 6th year
of our computerized operations here in Saint John. Since 2005, I have
added bits and pieces to our display bringing it up to the current
12,000 lights controlled by 40 channels of Light-O-Rama. Being a
college student, it's difficult to manage the display; however, the
family back home has managed it quite well for the first month of the
season. When everything is on, it pulls just over 50 amps of power. We
do have approximately 2,000 LEDs, but they're not pictured in the video;
they are in trees that sit in the parkway. |

Joseph Polenchar, Whitehall, PA, United States, Category 3, We are 50
year old plus 1st year newbies. My wife and I have worked on this all
year since January 2011 and didn't really know if we would be able to
pull it off. It's something we wanted to do ever since we first saw it
on the internet. The Light-o-Rama forums were extremely helpful the
whole time. We did not have one bulb go out or have any glitches at all
in our show, so kudos to all of the help from the forums. In trying to
save energy, we are 100% LED. We have 64 channels and have 5,000 lights
for our first year. We already have purchased 4 more controllers so we
will be doubling what we have for 2012. There are new props in the
works to add to the show. We really enjoy doing it simply for the
pleasure it gives for family, friends and neighbors...oh...and
ourselves! We were lucky to have our local newspaper ask to do an
article on us. We made the front page. Thanks Dan, for great
equipment! We had a great first year experience. Carol & Joe |

Festival of Lights, Lancaster, OH. Drive through approx. 10 acres of our
farm to view our Christmas lights displays, many animated--a Light o
Rama area too! It takes 4 electric meters to run everything. FREE.
Lights are on every night from Thanksgiving through New Years Day. This
season, 11,790 vehicles (including buses) drove through! My movie is
approx. 7 minutes long showing various song sequences throughout so be
sure to watch the entire video. We have added a "Letters to Santa" box
this year as the local children believe it is really the North Pole and
is Santa's house. We have a 40 ft tall x 300-400 ft long rock cliff
looking over our 4 acre lake that people drive around. We would love to
be able to decorate it with Light O Rama. So, I hope I win so I can
start planning the cliff decorations! |

Mark Davis, Arlington Heights, IL, United States, Category 3, This year
I decided to switch it up so instead of using Christmas lights, I used
RGB DMX fixtures to wash the house with color. It was not easy, as I had
to build outdoor, waterproof, housings for each of them...but the result
was worth it. This was all done with 2 16ch. showtime boxes, 2 CCRs, DMX
galore, and passion. Please enjoy my take on a modern Christmas. |

Jason Daugherty, Winchester, TN, United States, Category 3, I have about
18,000 lights in my animated display. I have several wire frames

standard light sensor switches, just because they are so pretty, I like
to keep them on all the time. This is my 4th year having a computerized
light show. |

Steven Hainer, Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, Category 3, This is our first
year for a musical Christmas light display. We received 2 Cosmic Color
Ribbons mid-November. They are mounted in a wave-like pattern on PVC
tube that is strapped to two 16"x8' metal wire shelves. After playing
around with the Light-O-Rama sequence editor and SuperStar editor, it
was quickly decided that we needed a controller to expand the show. We
were lucky enough to get our order in for a ShowTime Pro LOR1602W Light
Controller before the units became back-ordered. It arrived the 1st week
of December... quite impressive. The "Whole House FM Transmitter" also
arrived quickly and broadcasts to the end of our street with the extra
"international" length of antenna attached. We set out for Canadian Tire
to purchase lights and extension cords. The next project was the
homemade Bethlehem star. It is based on the design shared on the Holdman
Christmas website, except slightly smaller and with LED lights. Many
late nights were spent programming the light display to a total of 10
songs. Coldplay's "Christmas Lights" is a perfect song for a Christmas
light show. The neighbours may think I'm crazy, but it was a fun
experience overall. Next year.... perhaps a couple more CCR's, perhaps
another controller, but definitely more advanced planning! |

Aaron Maue, Walker, IA, United States, Category 3, 2011 was our first
year with animated lights, with the prior 10 years putting up a static
display. Our display consists of over 18,000 lights, 64 LOR channels
(around 50 or so visible in this video), over a mile of extension cords,
51 mini trees (less than half visible in this video), and a bunch of
other elements. It took us about 8 solid days to set up the display.
We live on a cul-de-sac on a 2-lane highway between 2 very small
communities (around 2500 people in the 2 towns combined). In the first
couple weeks we had the show running, we estimate that had around 100
cars visit the display. The next 2 weeks saw another 400-500 cars. My
wife and I dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus and tried to greet each one
of the cars that came to visit. We handed out candy canes to all the
kids. Though I'm sure we didn't manage to greet all our visitors, we
probably covered about 80% or more.
We're looking forward to 2012 and adding more to the setup. |

 |
David Plummer, Wallingford , PA, United States, Category 3, We've upped
to 48 channels this year. Over 35000 lights. We have the controllers
doing random things throughout the night since (the tree does things,
the snowflakes "snow" during the night, the leaping arches move, the one
tree fades between colors, and the shooting star runs. Unfortunately
we're not in a good location for people to stop and listen to a fully
sequenced song. But I've really gotten into the controllers and am
trying to add a couple every year. |

Marielle Brussel, Asten, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands, Category 3, About 3
years ago we decided to make our little front garden much brighter
during the Christmas time and to do something with the lights that only
a few people in Europe do. We purchased 3 Light-O-Rama controllers in
the VS to do so. Now 3 years later we got more and more visitors to
watch the Christmas lightshow. This year the steel star with the tails
and the strobe lights where edited. Unfortunately we ran out of channels
so we had to improvise. The temporary solution was to ad relays to 8
channels to make the show complete. Next year we have to ad more
Light-O-Rama controllers for the lightshow. In our lightshow we have
used about 5500 Christmas lights. 4000 lights are LED and the rest are
mini lights. The show is expanded with a beamer in a waterproof casing
for outdoor video projection. The whole lightshow with the video and
sound is controlled by a small computer. The S2 Light-O-Rama software
runs the lights, video projector and the audio very smoothly.
Synchronization of the Miracle on 34th street took about 25 hours before
it was completely done including the video in the show. The whole
lightshow has 20 songs with video and the duration is about one hour.
Many people asks us who we make the lights dance to the music and in so
may different ways. It’s fabulous they say. Light-O-Rama begins to
become well-known in the Netherlands because of our LOR Christmas
lightshow and a little few other Light-O-Rama users in our country.
We’ll hope that we can go on for years for all those people in those
days. Next year a new show and who knows a whole lot more ideas.
Everyone a very nice Light-O-Rama year and thanks for all the support
from America.
Greetings,
Tom and Marielle,
Asten, The Netherlands |
