Possible Problems After Upgrade? |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
In general upgrades go without any problems
at all. However in a small number of cases there are some issues.
Here are the most common problems and how to fix them. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Sequences are no longer in sync:
|
|
| |
|
When you upgrade from a version of
LOR 1.6.1 or lower to a version 1.6.3 or higher, some sequences with
MP3 files will be out of sync. If you used Audacity to prepare
your MP3 file or purchased your sequences from LOR there will not be
a problem.
Cause: Versions 1.6.3 and
higher use newer sections of Windows Media Player (WMP) to play
Audio Files. The older sections of WMP that were used prior to 1.6.3
worked differently. They would occasionally place a very short time
of silence at the beginning play. Only some MP3 files are affected.
Fix: With S2 you can use the
Skew Track function found under the Edit
menu. Generally you need to skew to the left (earlier) 0.3
seconds. Adjust until timing matches. . |

|
|
|
| |
|
Upgraded to 1.6.3 or higher and Sequence
does not play. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Cause1: Windows Media Player
(WMP) 9 or higher is not installed. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Fix: Upgrade your version of
WMP. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Cause2: Files had to be
moved and the audio file is no longer associated. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
Fix: To re-associate the
audio file:
- Run the Sequence Editor and open
the Sequence File.
- Click: Edit->Audio File or
Edit->Media File
- Browse to the location of the
audio file for this sequence and open it.
- Save the file.

Software does not run correctly...
Errors running programs or saving files. |
|
| |
|
Occasionally after a upgrade to
1.6.3 or higher there will be odd behavior by the LOR software. This
can be manifested in a number of ways.
Cause: To comply with changes
in Vista, LOR software 1.6.3 and higher stores data in different
locations on your PC. Due to issues that we do not yet understand,
the locations pointers are sometimes incorrect after a Update.
Fix: To fix the problem the
LOR entries in the System Registry are wiped out so that the freshly
installed software can rebuild the information correctly.
Follow these steps in the order listed:
- Stop all LOR programs. If the
LOR bulb is running in the system tray right click it and select
"Unload Light-O-Rama"
- Run the LOR Registry Wipe
program located here:
LORRegistryWipe.exe
- Start the Light-O-Rama control
panel: Click Start->All Programs->Light-O-Rama->Light-O-Rama
Control Panel

Updating USB Drivers |
|
| |
|
IMPORTANT: DO NOT
UPGRADE your USB drivers unless you are having a problem
with communication. If it isn't broken don't fix it. Make sure the USB adapter is NOT plugged into the
PC before starting these procedures.
Vista Install:
For Windows Vista, download and run this installation program:
www.lightorama.com/downloads/CDM_2.02.04.exe
When the installation program completes, plug the USB485 or USB485B
adapter into the
computer. The first time you do this, Windows plug-n-play will
install the driver software modules,
this may take a minute because two drivers must be installed. After
the installation by Windowshas completed, you can use the procedure described earlier in this
document to find the port.
Windows XP Install:
For Windows XP, download and run this installation program:
www.lightorama.com/downloads/CDM_2.02.04.exe
[Older version, XP] If the above version does not work on your XP
machine, download and run
this installation program:
www.lightorama.com/downloads/CDM_Setup.exe
When the installation program completes, plug the USB485 or USB485B
adapter into the
computer. The first time you do this, Windows plug-n-play will
install the driver software modules,
this may take a minute because two drivers must be installed. After
the installation by Windows
has completed, you can use the procedure described earlier in this
document to find the port.
