ShowTime Showcase for 2010

We're all about creating dynamic shows by mixing lights, music and electrical control of almost anything and everything.  Our customers are very proud of their displays and have sent us videos. Watch them and get some great ideas!  Click any image to watch a video optimized for your PC.  See the prize winners below.

All videos are in a universal ,mp4 format so they should play on Macs, PCs and smartphones.  If videos are slow to open, it's because the entire video is downloaded before playback begins.  Adjust your browser default program settings to start playing an .mp4 file while it is still streaming to your device for a much better viewing experience.  If you are using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9, we suggest you goto:  Tools :: Internet Options :: Programs Tab :: Set Programs (near the bottom).  Now goto Set Program Access and Computer Defaults.  Select Custom then scroll down the list till you see "Choose a default media player." Click the radio button next to Windows Media Player and you are good to go.

A message from one of the 2010 judges:

Congratulations on winning the 2010 Light-O-Rama contest! Your show was stunning, planned well, and looked like a lot of effort was put into making this! Everyone this year did great, and you did an amazing job!

We liked your choice of music, colors, and displays and we hope everyone out there enjoyed you show! We sure did! It was a lot of fun judging and I had a good time! We wish you good luck in the next Light-O-Rama Light Show contest!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
yours truly,
Alex B. at Light-O-Rama

The 2010 prize winners are:
Grand Prize Winner for 2010

Joe Farbizio Walworth, NY United States. This is a computerized Rock Band light display to the song "Toy Sack" using Light-O-Rama (LOR) hardware and software. Unfortunately, I don't have a great camcorder so the quality isn't that good. It is a lot clearer and brighter in person!  This display uses 32 channels and the lights are mounted on coroplast sheets. It is broadcast on 91.1 FM every 3 minutes and there are short sections of various Christmas songs between shows.  It can be found on "YouTube" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QZKDFwcei8 and on Vimeo at http://www.vimeo.com/18859673.  I hope you enjoy it and have a Rockin' 2011!!  :)

Static Display Winner for 2010

Greg Hebert Oklahoma City, OK United States. 15,000 lights on the roof alone. We had to add 2 extra breakers just for lights along with several GFI electrical outlets. A great test this year as we are hoping to completely computerize next year.

32 Channels or Less Winner for 2010

Jeremy Trumble Quest Real Estate Solutions, Inc. Port St. Lucie, FL United States. over 10,000 lights featuring a 60' Christmas tree agoodlight.com

33-64 Channels  Winner for 2010

Val Bennett Tremonton, UT United States. This is our first year doing the lights-to-music.  We have three 16-channel controllers, using 40 of the 48 channels. We also have two CCR's (my personal favorite). I did a total of four songs this year, and plan to add a few more for next year - plus some more channels.  Most of our lights are LED's, with a few older incandescent ones. The  smaller trees are home-made using rebar and 9 ga. wire.

65-128 Channels  Winner for 2010

Ben Aromin MAGICAL HOLIDAY MOMENTS FAIRFIELD, CA United States. Magical Holiday Moments started out as just a simple static Christmas lights display until the 'Animation Bug' bit us.  Our Display is a Christmas lights tribute to Disneyland in Fairfield, Calif. making it a premier destination in Northern California to view a Christmas lights display.  Our light show is computer controlled animation synchronized to music broadcasted on 88.3fm so you can listen to the music and enjoy the show in your car. This year our show will feature freshly introduced elements to the display making for a more exciting experience with visually stunning lighting effects to dazzle your senses.  Also we have upgraded more existing lights to the energy efficient, vibrantly colorful, LED lights. 128+ Channels  Winner for 2010

Timothy Gay LaGrangeville, NY United States. Total Lights = 277,169,  528 Light-O-Rama Channels, I first started using Light-O-Rama in 2007.  Everything you see in the video, was made by us.  The display covers my entire 1.7 acres, and is around a pond.  in 2010, we added a 2nd heart, with 11,000 lights - you see this at the end of the video.  We also added 15 squares of light, each with 1,300 lights.  We remade the stars this year.  We had over 85 songs in the show.  Coldplay released this song on December 1st.  I spent the next 4 days sequencing it, so that we could add it to our shows. www.erdajt.com

240 volt Countries Winner for 2010

Geoff Harvey Brisbane, Queensland    Australia.  My display consists of about 80,000 lights running from about 360 Light-O-Rama channels (10 AC boards + 19 DC boards)+ 6 CCRs which are connected end to end in pairs with all 3 pairs running from the same address. I first became interested in Christmas lights about 7 years ago (to impress our young (then toddlers) grandchildren). I then found lights could be computer controlled. Having always had an interest and involvement with computers during my working life, this prospect fascinated me. I bought my first Light-O-Rama boards about 6 years ago and experimented. This year 2010 was the first year in which I have achieved lights & music synchronization. While this had always been my goal, I had a mental block in previous years. While I had previously produced some nice animation shows with background music, the synchronization had always eluded me for lack of knowing how, time etc... My display is comprised of components which are mostly Australian local components and the entire display has to be capable of erection by one person - myself. I have adapted features from the internet to suit my location - eg megatree, arches, minitrees, firework stars, etc. This year I am very happy with the light display and the performance of LOR, and in having achieved my goal of synchronization. Even with the very wet and trying conditions we have experienced this year, we have been getting good crowds and have collected over $700 for charity in this, our first year of accepting charity donations.

Commercial Display Winners for 2010  (it was a tie)

Shadrack Productions Shadrack Productions Bristol, TN United States. This drive-through display covering more than 10 acres with a one mile long vehicle trail features hundreds of thousands of LED lights! The music selection was arranged, performed and recorded by Shadrack. This display uses over 1600 Light-O-Rama channels spanning 4 networks. Among the hundreds of hand-crafted elements included in this show are two particularly large items, a 70 foot tall Mega Tree and a 70 foot tall Vertical Leaping Light. Located in Sevierville, TN, this was one of four shows by Shadrack Productions in 2010.  www.shadrackchristmas.com

Joseph Noe Crooks, SD United States. Well, in our 5th year, we sold our house and moved our display to a commercial location.  A mall to be exact.  It went over pretty well and we had our second highest donation total ever at over 27k for the season.  We've raised over 123K for make a wish in the last 5 years with this display. westernmallchristmas.com
