Light-O-Rama Contest 2011

Proud of what you've done? Think it's contest worthy? We do
too!
Light-O-Rama is sponsoring two
separate contests for 2011.
We're not giving away any wimpy prizes
either. We've really irritated our accountant by reserving
Light-O-Rama's most
popular products for prizes as well as setting up several in-store free
credit accounts.
What are we calling these two contests?
Impressed? You should be since the chances of winning are good. Enter both contests to increase your odds. Ready to
find out more? There are just a few basic rules and entering is done
entirely on-line. Read these hints, suggestions
and rules carefully so you can successfully enter these contests.

Shining Bright Contest as well as the Share the Show
Contest.

Requirements to enter the Shining Bright Contest
- Categories 2-7 must use
Light-O-Rama hardware and
software in your
display.
- Video posting
at public sites (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or your personal
website must reference Light-O-Rama
and LOR in the keywords and/or in the
video clip.
Counting your channels for
the appropriate Shining Bright Contest category
How do you count the channels in your display?
- If your display is static, meaning there is no computer anywhere
flashing the lights in a way that you program, then enter at least
Shining Bright 2010 category 1.
- Typical light controllers are 8-16 channels each so count all the
channels you are using.
- If you use our Cosmic Color Ribbon, count each ribbon as 12
channels and add to the above, if needed.
- If you use DMX, count each DMX channel in use and add to the above,
if needed.
- If you are using DIO boards to control lights, count each channel
and add to the above.
- DIO or ServoDog channels controlling anything but lights do not need
to be counted.
- Now you have your channel count. Enter the appropriate
Shining Bright category 2-7.
All Shining Bright entries are automatically entered into the Grand
Prize drawing.
Media formats accepted for the Shining Bright Contest
Light-O-Rama is really good at building controllers but juggling all the
different video formats has never been our thing. Upload your contest
entry video to your personal website or any of the public video sharing
sites (we like
Vimeo.com
but YouTube.com is also
a possibility, as well as many others) send us the link and we'll watch from here.
If your video file is small in size and posting it on your own website or a public video sharing
site is not convenient, you can upload the file in the contest entry form
below. Depending on the type of Internet connection you have, the size
of the file, traffic congestion and how busy our servers might be, your
browser can timeout during the upload process and unfortunately, we have no
control of this issue. If a browser
timeout does occur during your file upload, that's a really good hint to post your video
on a public video sharing site that specializes in videos.
We do not accept
videos submitted by mail, email, hand delivered or any physical form.
Special note if you upload your video to YouTube.com: YouTube has
been known to strip of the audio of popular tunes that might be part of your
video. After you have uploaded your video to YouTube and it's been
processed and posted, wait about 30 minutes and check again.
Typically, if there are audio problems, you'll receive an email from
YouTube.
Strong Suggestion: Check your video link to make sure it's active
and plays back as you desire before submitting your entry to this contest.
Please make sure your video stays posted through May 2012.
Entries must be
received no later than January 21, 2012 at midnight, EST. You must use the entry form below. Only one entry
per person.
-
Employees of Light O
Rama Inc., and such
employees' immediate family
members and persons with
whom such employees are
domiciled are excluded from
this contest.
-
Decisions of the contest
judges are final.
-
By claiming the prize,
the winners authorize the
use, without additional
compensation of their
name and/or likeness and/or
voice/photograph and
municipality of residence
for promotion and/or
advertising purposes in any
manner and in any medium
(including without
limitation, radio
broadcasts, newspapers and
other publications and in
television or film releases,
slides, videotape,
distribution over the
internet and picture date
storage) which Light O Rama may deem
appropriate.
-
In accepting the prize, the
winner acknowledges that
Light O Rama, Inc. may not
be held liable for any loss,
damages or injury associated
with accepting or use of
prizes.
-
Light O Rama, Inc.
retains the rights, in its
absolute and sole
discretion, to make
substitutions of equivalent
kind or approximate value in
the event of the
unavailability of any prize
or component of the prize
for any reason whatsoever.
-
This contest is subject
to all USA federal, state
and municipal laws.
-
All entries become the
property of Light-O-Rama,
Inc. Entrants agree that
their entries may be
displayed on the
Light-O-Rama web site.
Entries will be judged on curb appeal, overall
creativity, use of materials, exactness of synchronization
(computerized shows), use of color and originality. Judging for categories will be performed by a panel of Light O Rama employees.
The Grand Prize winner will be chosen by a single judge:
an 12 year old boy because we feel it is
more in the spirit of Christmas. He will not be sub-consciously
influenced by the size of the house, the number channels or the
number of lights. The judging becomes simple: "What is it that makes
a child smile?" We feel this it the best way to pick the Grand Prize
winner. Also, because an 11 year old is not predictable, everyone gets
a chance win.
Only one (1) entry per person allowed for our Shining Bright Contest
By entering the Light-O-Rama Shining Bright Contest 2011 you
agree that video of your display may be added to the Light-O-Rama
website. Please include what information (if any) you want
included with your video (your name, town, a write-up about your
display.) Once your entry form is submitted, changes are not
allowed.
