ShowTime Solution:  Amusement Parks

Amusement parks are known for summer fun but the park owners have every reason to keep their venues open for as many hours as possible because of their huge capital investment.  Getting customers to come in the evenings means more concession and gift revenue during the typical summer season.  Opening the parks during the non-traditional seasons is  becoming popular as the parks provide a fun and entertaining way to bring the family together.

What gets the customers coming to your park during the non-traditional times?  A light extravaganza choreographed to music, of course.  Entertaining your guests with an enchanting light show combined with the emotional bond people can make with their favorite music provides the magic needed to bring in the guests thus leading to more revenue.

Looking for campaigns that have worked with other theme parks?

  • Cinco de Mayo

  • Summer Twilights (typically a fundraiser for a deserving group in the community)

  • 4th of July

  • Halloween

  • Christmas

What's the bottom line for amusement parks?  More visitors mean more money.

Where should you begin?  A few suggestions:

How do you bring lights, music and motion to your park?  We make it easy.  Start by looking at our typical setups to get a feel for how you can make your computer flash those lights at your command.  If that makes sense, checkout information about how you can build your own shows.  It's not nearly as hard as you might think and rest assured we do everything we can to make it simple for you to install.  Then take a look at our off-the-shelf musical sequences that can quickly bring the magic to your display.  You should even checkout our starter packages where we do even more of the configuration work for you.

If you already have professional lighting designers on staff, tell them you want to do an elaborate theme-based outdoor light show.  When they say they'll need a huge lighting budget, point to the Light-O-Rama website and have them checkout how most of our light controllers can accept the DMX-512 protocol, they're housed in weatherproof enclosures and are significantly less expensive than typical stage lighting dimmer packs.  Tell your designers you want a festive atmosphere using miniature LEDs and they'll take the hint Christmas lights can be used all during the year and will help them bring together lights, music and motion for your guests.

Don't limit yourself to a single over-the-top light show a year.  It's easy to reprogram your Light-O-Rama computerized show depending on the theme.  Change the music, emphasize different colors (red, white and blue for July 4th) and remember the Light-O-Rama controllers are easy to redeploy in other areas of the park.

Parking Lot Based Show

This is a drive through display spanning more than 10 acres in a baseball stadium parking lot with a one mile long vehicle path (look carefully for the car tail lights driving through.)  Music was arranged, performed and recorded by Shadrack of Tennessee.  This display uses over 1,600 Light-O-Rama channels spanning four data networks.  Display elements include a 70 foot tall megatree of lights as well as a 70 foot tall vertical leaper.  LED technology was deployed throughout using less energy than if the parking lot general lighting had been left on.  This was one of the three drive through displays setup by Shadrack in 2009.

Large Venue/ Stadium Show

Bright Nights in Florida set up a gigantic show in the Roger Dean baseball stadium to celebrate Christmas in a whole new way.  30 minute shows were every hour.  Light-O-Rama equipment was used to control everything you saw and heard.  Look carefully for the fireworks.

Zoo Experience

Zoos are the perfect venue for seasonal light shows.  By providing a family friendly and safe environment combined with a chance to see some wild animals, what a great way to generate more traffic.  Light-O-Rama controllers can be used to animate simple design pieces or used to coordinate everything in the park.  Imagine it, then do it!

Concert/Party/Prom/DJ Show

Use Light-O-Rama to control your stage and party lights to celebrate almost any occasion.  Watch this video carefully and notice how the DMX-512 based stage lights are synchronized to the music.  You can synchronize entire show sets ahead of time so you can sit back and enjoy the show with everyone else.
